Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is used to determine numbers "Quantity" of specific things such as the number of people who prefer the colour blue or red. Quantitative research usually consists of very basic questions. I.E. Are you male or female?
Qualitative Research
Qualitative is similar to Quantitative research although the questions asked are to receive more detail on the subject. For example, an individual would be asked why they have their particular opinion. This allows the researchers to have a more decisive outcome from their questions.
Audience Profiling
Audience profiling is what large media companies do to make their products more enticing to certain groups of individuals. This is done by TV companies for example to make certain shows apply to certain people.
